The questions people actually ask
Audit.NET is free and does the capture. Why would I pay for this?
You should not, if capture is all you need — Audit.NET is mature, MIT licensed and genuinely good. What you pay us for is everything after it: a store that answers "what happened to this record" without competing with your production traffic, retention that expires per customer, masking that runs before anything is buffered, and an export an auditor will accept. That is the quarter your team spends building it twice. Our SDKs are MIT too, so you can take the capture layer and leave the rest.
Why are you so much cheaper than WorkOS?
Because we sell one thing. Their $99 a month per million events stored is bundled with an identity platform, and $125 a month per SIEM connection on top. We do audit logging only, on a columnar store where audit JSON compresses by about an order of magnitude. If you also need SSO and directory sync, they are the better buy.
What counts as an event?
One recorded change to one record. Updating an order writes one event, however many properties changed. A batch insert of a hundred rows writes a hundred events.
What happens if I go over my monthly allowance?
Nothing breaks and nothing is dropped. We keep accepting events and tell you in the dashboard and by email. If you are consistently over, we will ask you to move up a plan — we will not silently start billing you for overage.
Can I change plans later?
Yes, in either direction, from the dashboard. Moving up takes effect immediately; moving down takes effect at the end of the billing period so you keep what you have paid for.
Do you charge per user?
No. Every plan includes unlimited dashboard users. Charging your compliance officer to read a compliance tool would be absurd.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
It stays queryable and exportable for 30 days, then it is deleted. You can export everything as CSV or JSON at any time, including during that window. There is no export fee and no lock-in — the schema is published.
Do you offer annual billing or a non-profit discount?
Annual billing saves two months. Registered non-profits and educational institutions get 50% off any plan — send us proof of status and we will apply it.
